2020-19 Silver Maple & Blackwood 3-1/8”d x 8-3/4”h
A lidded vase made from a piece of Silver Maple taken from the crotch where two branches split on the tree. Turning uncovered this stunning feather grain, which I accentuated with black water-based dye, sanded back to lighten areas where the dye penetrated less. The lid exhibits exquisite fiddleback grain and is topped with a hand-carved Blackwood handle. Both the lid and the interior of the vessel are dyed a brilliant yellow.
