Guest Artist, Nancy Klos
Artistic Portland Gallery welcomes Plein Air painter, Nancy Klos to light up our Annex with her vivid Impressionist-style paintings as Guest Artist for the month of July.
“Lyrical, organic lines, shapes and form have always fascinated me,” says Nancy. “There are no straight lines in nature. Curvilinear lines, spirals, layers of textures—remind me of both the complexity of plant structures and at the same time the simplicity of their form.”
Nancy lives, paints, and teaches in Portland, Oregon. Among her many accolades are Artist in Residence at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland and Artist in Residence at the Hawk Creek Gallery in Neskowin, Oregon. She has been a guest instructor at the Portland Art Museum, Portland State Masters in Education Program, Sitka Center of Art and Ecology, Menucha Creative Arts Community, Coupeville Arts Guild on Whidbey Island, and The University of Idaho Convergence Conference. Her work has appeared in numerous arts publications including SW Arts Magazine, Oregon ArtBeat, Plein Air Magazine and Outdoor Painter.
“Drawing is the base of all the artwork I create. This is where I start and this is how I end a piece—no matter what the medium. To paint in ink and oil is to study color, texture, impression, and poetry all in one. It is immediate and fresh to work with. Other art can follow.”
Come see Nancy’s work in person at Artistic Portland Gallery Annex, July 1–31, 2021. We are located at 4110 NE Fremont St., Portland, OR, open every day from 10–6.
